Minard's Family Farm is one of our favorite orchards in the Hudson Valley area. Take a tour of the orchard on the hayride and take pics of the kids enjoying the Apple Express. In addition to apple and pumpkin picking, check out Minard's farm market store and feast on its cheesy pizza, tender corn on the cob, and hands down the sweetest apple cider donuts.
Not only is Minard's one of the friendliest orchards we have ever visited, the man behind the farm is just as warm and welcoming. We were lucky enough to interview Jason Minard and have him fill us in on everything from his inspiration to the farm's future plans.
What inspired you to open Minard's?
My passion is to reinvent the scope of farming and educate the public from an early age that farming can be hard work but it also can be rewarding and FUN. We are "HUNGRY" to see our vision become a reality.
What is the best part about owning/operating Minard's?
The best part is watching my hard work pay off in seeing and hearing about the families having fun together at the farm.
What is your favorite variety of apple?
My favorite is the empire apple which is both good on its own and for baking.
What can we expect to see in the future?
The goal is to host "country weddings" next year. I want this to be known as the best agritainment destination in New York.
Minard's is also home to a 2 1/2 acre "Big Apple" corn maze which is the largest in the Hudson Valley.
During the apple picking season, a half a peck of apples costs $10, and a half bushel costs $23.
